National Family Law Conference – Days 2 and 3
Day 2 had a veritable smorgasboard of topics to choose from including self-represented litigants, legal practice reinvented, injunctions, Hague (child) return orders and expert witnesses… And then there’s happy hour (again)!
Day 3 began with an engaging and deeply personal panel discussion of family violence from a broad range of perspectives. Panellists included a barrister, a former AFL player, police DV liaison officer, DV Connect, Mensline, a refuge manager, and Debbie Kilroy of Sisters Inside.
Their stories were moving, and at times hard to listen to, but well worth the hearing.
The other sessions dealt with spousal maintenance, robot lawyers, property and parenting and finishing with a delightfully funny debate about family law matters. Damn nice to see lawyers being able to put aside the metaphorical suit and tie and reveal their underlying wit and humour. Loved it!
We finished up early today to get ready for the Gala Dinner in the Plaza Ballroom. Must go now people – I have a gala evening to prepare for 🙂
